How the AP Environmental Science Curve Works for 2026
The AP Environmental Science (APES) exam uses a composite scoring model that combines your raw points into a single scaled score out of 130. This calculator uses best-fit prediction bands based on the 2025 official benchmarks.

The Scaling Formula
Your raw scores are normalized to fit the 130-point composite scale using the following calculation:
Composite = round($$\frac{ MCQ_{ raw }}{ 80 }$$ × 78) + round($$\frac{ FRQ_{ raw }}{ 30 }$$ × 52)Note: Composite scores are compared against estimated prediction bands to determine the final 1–5 AP score.
Why 2025 Data?
The College Board does not publish current-year conversion tables in advance. The 2025 score distribution remains the most accurate anchor for predicting 2026 results. This tool should be treated as a high-probability estimation for your planning and goal setting.

2026 AP Environmental Science Exam Format & Structure
Administered via the Bluebook app, the exam covers the interconnected systems of Earth's environment and the measurable impacts of human activity.
Section I: Multiple-Choice
Includes individual and set-based questions utilizing quantitative data, qualitative information, or text-based sources. There is no guessing penalty.
Budget ~1 minute per question. Pay close attention to "NOT" and "EXCEPT" qualifiers. Many errors occur from misreading axis labels or units on graphs and maps.
Section II: Free-Response
Allocate 23 minutes per FRQ. Show all work with correct units for Q3. Partial credit is awarded for sub-parts, so never leave a prompt entirely blank.
